Staining bacterial flagella easily.

چکیده
A wet-mount technique for staining bacterial flagella is highly successful when a stable stain and regular slides and cover slips are used. Although not producing a permanent mount, the technique is simple for routine use when the number and arrangement of flagella are critical in identifying species of motile bacteria.

Practical procedure for demonstrating bacterial flagella.
We developed a simple, rapid method for demonstrating bacterial flagella with Ryu staining solution that gave satisfactory results for numerous motile and nonmotile bacteria. Two major advantages of this method are that the staining solution, ready for use, is stable at ambient temperature indefinitely and that microscopic examination of bacteria in the stained drop preparations can be performe...

متن کاملA simple, rapid method for demonstrating bacterial flagella.
We developed a simple, rapid method for demonstrating flagellation of bacteria using the fluorescent protein stain NanoOrange (Molecular Probes, Eugene, Oreg.). The NanoOrange reagent binds to hydrophobic regions of proteins, which results in substantial enhancement of fluorescence. Unbound reagent is essentially nonfluorescent. NanoOrange fluorescently stained bacterial cell bodies, as well as...
متن کاملSimplified silver-plating stain for flagella.
Rhodes' silver-plating technique for staining flagella was tested for its reliability and convenience as a routine procedure in the clinical laboratory. Modifications were made in the stain preparation and the procedure of staining and were tested with smears of known motile gram-negative nonfermentative bacilli. The stain has proved to be accurate and reliable and can be easily utilized with a...
